Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

American Hophornbeam · About five minutes

Find your steady pace.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Settle where you are

Choose stable, permitted ground. Sit or stand with your usual supports, at a distance that makes looking comfortable. Let your breath follow its natural rhythm.

  2. Find one small detail

Rest your eyes on a patch of bark, a leaf edge, or a branch. Notice its shape without removing anything. A clear view from the path is enough.

  3. Return gently

When your attention moves elsewhere, return to that detail. Repeat a few times, allowing each return to be simple.

  4. Choose a repeatable step

Think of one effort you want to continue. Choose a small action you could realistically repeat, then finish with another look at the tree.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What could you continue with a little more patience and a little less strain?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
