Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Green Ash · About five minutes

Adjust to the conditions.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Find a supported view

Sit or stand on stable, permitted ground using your usual supports. Choose a distant viewpoint if the tree has damaged limbs. Keep your breathing natural.

  2. Describe today

Notice one detail of the tree and one detail of its surroundings. Name each plainly, without deciding whether the scene is good or bad.

  3. Notice what you need

Check whether your seat, stance, or viewing distance suits you. Make one comfortable adjustment if useful, or remain as you are.

  4. Choose a workable beginning

Think of something you would like to return to. Choose one small step that fits today's time and energy. Finish with a final look at the tree.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What became possible when you allowed an adjustment?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
