Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Maple · About five minutes

A practice for this season.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Name the season

Find a comfortable view of a maple. Describe what is actually present: buds, leaves, fruits, bare branches, or fallen foliage.

  2. Notice giving and receiving

Observe shade, light, nearby plants, or a passing animal. Let the scene prompt a reflection on the support you give and receive.

  3. Make room for change

Choose one visible change since a previous visit, or imagine returning in another season. Let your breath remain natural.

  4. Find a fitting rhythm

Ask whether today calls for effort, rest, or a small adjustment. Choose one action that fits your present circumstances.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What are you ready to give, and what are you ready to receive?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
