Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Red Maple · About five minutes

One detail. One adjustment.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Meet today's conditions

Choose a permitted, comfortable viewpoint on stable ground. Notice the light, weather, and your own position. Sit or stand with your usual supports.

  2. Find what is present

Look for a leaf, twig, bud, or fruit you can see without reaching or picking. Describe its shape before giving it a meaning.

  3. Adjust your attention

If your chosen detail is hard to see, choose another. Notice that changing your approach can be part of staying with the practice.

  4. Carry one response

Let your breathing remain natural. After a few minutes, name one small adjustment that would make your day more workable, then finish at your own pace.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What changed when you responded to the conditions you actually had?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
