Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree
American Yellowwood · About five minutes
A quiet season is enough.
Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.
Find a comfortable place.
Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.
Meet today’s tree
Settle at a stable, permitted viewpoint with your usual supports. Let flowers, fallen leaves, bare branches, or bark each be a possible starting point.
Follow one connection
Trace a visible leaf from its stalk toward its leaflets, or follow a branch line in winter. Leave living growth attached.
Release the expected display
Notice any wish that the tree were flowering or more colorful. Return to one detail that is available now, with ordinary breathing.
Offer a small attention
Name something you can care for without needing an immediate result. Finish with a wider view of the place and a gentle intention to return.
An optional five minutes
You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.
5:00
Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.
Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.
When you are ready
What became worthwhile when you stopped waiting for a more impressive moment?
Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
