Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree
Balsam Fir · About five minutes
A quiet point of attention.
Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.
Find a comfortable place.
Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.
Arrive without a demand
Choose a safe, permitted viewpoint with your usual supports. Allow your present mood to be part of the visit; no particular feeling is required.
Choose one quiet detail
Rest your gaze on a twig, a patch of bark, or the crown's outline. Keep eyes open and breathe naturally.
Return gently
When a sound or thought draws your attention away, notice it and return to the detail. Change your position or anchor whenever comfort requires it.
Let the pause finish
Widen your attention to the surrounding forest or landscape. Carry one gentle intention into your next activity, then end at your own pace.
An optional five minutes
You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.
5:00
Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.
Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.
When you are ready
What was it like to pay attention without demanding a particular feeling?
Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
