Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Black Cherry · About five minutes

Leave room for another presence.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Arrive without disturbing

Choose a comfortable, supported position on permitted ground. Keep distance from nests and visiting wildlife. Leave leaves, bark, and fruit untouched.

  2. Begin with one detail

Look at a bark pattern or branch junction. Describe it quietly to yourself. Let your breathing remain natural.

  3. Include the surroundings

Allow one nearby sound or visible movement into your attention. If nothing moves, notice the space between branches. There is no need to attract wildlife or wait for an event.

  4. Carry the pause with you

Choose one conversation or interaction where you could leave more room to listen. Take one final look, then continue at your own pace.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What did you notice when the tree became part of a wider scene?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
