Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Black Oak · About five minutes

Give a clear intention time.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Settle where you can see

Choose stable, permitted ground and a comfortable seat or stance. Keep clear of damaged branches and falling acorns. A view from a path is enough.

  2. Separate seeing from naming

Describe a visible edge, color, or texture. Then notice any name or interpretation you have added. Allow the description to stand on its own for a moment.

  3. Find one direction

Bring a worthwhile intention to mind. Name why it matters in a simple sentence, letting your breathing continue at its ordinary pace.

  4. Make a patient commitment

Choose a small action and a realistic time to do it. Leave room to learn more as you go. Return your attention to the tree before finishing.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What could you pursue with both resolve and patience?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
