Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Black Spruce · About five minutes

A small detail. A patient return.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Stay on a durable route

Use a permitted boardwalk, trail, or other stable viewpoint with your usual supports. Do not step into bog vegetation or wet ground to get closer.

  2. Choose what is already visible

Find a branch silhouette, a patch of needles, or a cone you can see comfortably. There is no need to reach, collect, or confirm every identification clue.

  3. Rest with one detail

Let a few natural breaths pass while looking. Notice changes in light or sound without demanding that anything happen.

  4. Leave room for the habitat

Widen your attention to the surrounding vegetation. Choose one way to care for the place, such as keeping to the route and leaving the tree untouched.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

How did care for the place change the way you paid attention?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
