Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Black Walnut · About five minutes

Tend what takes time.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Find a comfortable viewpoint

Sit or stand on stable, permitted ground with your usual supports, clear of falling nuts and damaged branches. Observe the crown from a comfortable distance.

  2. Follow one branch

Trace a branch with your eyes as far as you can comfortably see. If looking upward strains your neck, choose a line in the bark instead.

  3. Name a longer intention

Bring one project, relationship, or skill to mind. Say quietly what you hope to care for over time, without setting a demand for today's results.

  4. Choose today's care

Name one manageable action that supports that intention. Give it a realistic place in your day, then return your attention to the tree before leaving.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What can you tend today even when the result is still far away?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
