Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Castor Aralia · About five minutes

Curiosity at a comfortable distance.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Choose a no-touch viewpoint

Stay on a stable, permitted route, with your usual supports. Keep clear of trunks and branches that may bear spines; there is no need to approach the bark.

  2. Trace an outline

Choose a visible leaf edge, crown silhouette, or branch angle. Follow the shape with your eyes without reaching into foliage.

  3. Separate seeing from guessing

Name one thing you can see, then one question you cannot yet answer. Let that uncertainty remain while breathing naturally.

  4. Carry a useful boundary

Consider a boundary that would make your day more comfortable or attentive. Finish by including the whole tree and leaving it undisturbed.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

How did a comfortable boundary make room for curiosity?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
