Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Coast Redwood · About five minutes

One line within a living forest.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Find a comfortable view

Choose a stable, permitted viewpoint with your usual seat or supports. Keep to established routes and avoid exposed roots or fallen barriers.

  2. Follow one visible line

Trace a trunk edge, branch, or nearby shoot with your eyes. Choose a comfortable angle without trying to see the tree’s highest point.

  3. Include the setting

Notice the light, surrounding vegetation, and any moisture you can observe. Let ordinary breathing accompany the shift from one detail to the wider place.

  4. Recognize a source of support

Name one condition that helps you continue in your own life. Consider one small way to care for it, then finish with attention to the tree.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What became visible when you included the tree’s surroundings?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
