Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Douglas-fir · About five minutes

A clear clue. A grounded intention.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Settle beside the tree

Use a permitted path-side viewpoint and your usual supports. Choose a branch, trunk section, or fallen cone you can see comfortably.

  2. Find a particular clue

Look for a cone bract, an individual needle, or a bark ridge. Describe only what is visible, leaving the name uncertain when the clues are incomplete.

  3. Let the view widen

Include nearby branches and surrounding trees. Notice variation without needing to compare which tree is better or more impressive.

  4. Choose a workable intention

Name one action supported by what you actually know today. Finish by returning your attention to the place.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

How did one concrete observation change your first impression?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
