Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree
Katsura · About five minutes
A season, one sense at a time.
Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.
Find a comfortable place.
Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.
Arrive without expectation
Choose a permitted, comfortable viewpoint with your usual supports. An upright tree, a weeping specimen, or a winter silhouette can all be a starting point.
Follow one shape
Choose a leaf, a branch curve, or a patch of bark. Follow its outline slowly with your eyes, without pulling foliage toward you.
Widen the encounter
Notice light, nearby sounds, and any scent already present. There is no need to touch the tree or search for an autumn fragrance. A quiet, unscented visit is complete.
Name one appreciation
Choose one detail you would like to remember. Let the tree remain as it is, then carry a little of that attention into your next activity.
An optional five minutes
You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.
5:00
Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.
Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.
When you are ready
What did you notice when you let the encounter arrive on its own?
Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
