Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

Shagbark Hickory · About five minutes

Give the next layer time.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Choose a clear viewpoint

Find stable, permitted ground away from falling nuts or damaged branches. Sit or stand with support and keep your gaze at a comfortable height.

  2. Look along the layers

Notice a bark strip, a furrow, or a line of buds. Follow its edge with your eyes. Keep bark attached and leave nuts for the surrounding life.

  3. Name the current stage

Bring one ongoing effort to mind. Describe where it stands in a plain sentence. Let that description be accurate without asking it to be impressive.

  4. Choose patient care

Name one small action that would help the effort develop. Give it a realistic place in your day, then return to the tree for a final look.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What would patient care change about your next step?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
