Tree Yoga School · Practice beside a tree

White Ash · About five minutes

Notice what deserves care.

Read once, then give your attention to the tree. Spend a few minutes, or less if that suits you.

Find a comfortable place.

Sit or stand on stable ground in a permitted place, keeping your usual supports. A bench, wheelchair, or accessible path is enough. Keep paths clear and let your breathing stay natural. There is no need to touch the tree.

  1. Choose a sound viewpoint

Observe from a permitted path or another stable place clear of dead or damaged branches. Sit or stand with support. A distant view or a photograph can serve this practice.

  2. Name one living detail

Notice a leaf, bud, or other visible feature without touching or collecting it. If you are uncertain about the tree’s condition, simply name what you can actually see.

  3. Allow an honest response

Notice appreciation, concern, sadness, curiosity, or no strong feeling. You do not need to produce a particular emotion. Continue breathing naturally and return to the visible detail.

  4. Choose one act of care

Identify a small action within reach: learn about local trees, care for a shared place, or check in with someone. Give the action a realistic time, then finish at your own pace.

An optional five minutes

You can practice without a timer. Start it when you are ready to turn your attention to the tree.

5:00

Silent by default. Begin whenever you like.

Keep this page open for the closing sound. A locked screen or backgrounded browser may delay it; the time will catch up when you return.

When you are ready

What would care look like at a scale you can sustain?

Reflect quietly, or write a sentence in your own notebook. Let the visit be enough.
