Triangle Pose

You will be absolutely blown away at how much better triangle pose is with the tree. Not only is it much easier to practice, but the stretch is greatly enhanced. However, be mindful with this pose. This is a pose you want to be warmed up for, and it is a pose you want to be especially careful with in the colder weather. Utilize the tree, but always do it mindfully.

Begin with one foot close to the tree, with the toes pointed directly to the trunk. Step back 3 or 4 feet with the other leg. The back heel should be down, with the toes angled out. Keep the legs straight, but do not lock out the knees. Additionally, keep the core engaged and the spine elongated. Hinge at the lead hip, and place both hands on the trunk. One hand should be high, and the other one should be low — close to the ground. Use the tree as leverage to move yourself more deeply into this side body stretch by tilting the heart up towards the sky. Practice for a couple of breaths on each side.
