The register behind the map
DANR online register · retrieved October 11, 2026 · edition not stated
60 records are included in this imported selection. 60 have approximate map points; 0 remain searchable without a marker. Multiple trees can share one town or county point.
Register editions, retrieval dates, and individual measurement dates describe different things. This snapshot does not confirm current tree condition. Approximate map points do not locate individual trees or establish permission to visit.
The Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources’ “Current Register of Big Trees” online table, retrieved October 11, 2026. All 60 published rows are included. The program overview says 57 champion species and 234 champions and challengers, which differs from this table. No missing records or row-level champion, co-champion, or national designations are inferred.
The table supplies no edition or measurement dates. Its cottonwood record differs from the program overview; we use the table’s values. Current tree condition, title, and visiting access are unverified.
All records use 23 approximate Census county points. Published nearest communities remain searchable and appear in the details. County markers do not locate those communities or individual trees and do not grant visiting permission.
Source names and scores are preserved, including spelling errors, genus-only labels, and botanical authorities. Circumference is converted from explicit feet and inches to inches; height and crown spread are in feet. Four scores differ by more than one point from the listed measurements and are flagged in the details. The American sycamore’s circumference remains the printed 11 inches; no missing feet mark or corrected measurement is invented.
